5 Healthy Breakfast Ideas For Summer

7.04.2018

Hi lovelies, it’s been a while since I’ve sat down and written a blog post for you, but today I feel super inspired to improve some things on my little ol blog - so here I am. I really want to get a ton of content written for you this summer as it’s my absolute favourite time of year and I want to make it as fun as possible, so I have a bunch of plans for future posts that I can’t wait to share with you all.

Anyways, since I've started to incorporate more food and health related topics into my posts, I decided I really wanted to share some of my favourite healthy breakfast ideas with you that are perfect for this time of year. I know a lot of people struggle to come up with new ideas for breakfast and find it really boring, but it's actually my favourite meal of the day! I love experimenting with different foods in the morning, although I understand that a lot of people simply don't have the time (or energy) to get creative so early in the day. So here are five ideas for those who do have the time to try out different recipes as well as a few quick and easy suggestions for those with limited time.

These suggestions are all perfect for those looking to incorporate more healthy breakfasts into their diets, or for those looking to maybe lose a bit of weight by eating more whole foods. Either way, they're all sooo yummy and I hope you love them all as much as I do.

Granola I'm currently loving making my own granola instead of buying it from supermarkets, as they're usually packed with sugar and a bunch of other nasty ingredients. By making mine at home from scratch, I know exactly what is going into it and it always tastes a million times better anyway! I highly recommend trying My Favourite Chocolate And Coconut Granola or The Best Fruit And Nut Granola  as I make these all the time and they always turn out amazing.
OatsWho said oats were only a winter breakfast? I love making a big bowl of oats all year round! Oats don't have to be boring as there are sooo many topping choices and flavours to play around with, so experiment until you find your perfect breakfast! I personally love making chocolate oats, using cacao powder and then topping them with fresh strawberries, chia seeds, desiccated coconut and a square of dark chocolate - it's amazing and so healthy! If you're on the go a lot or need something quick and easy before school / work, then overnight oats are amazing! Simply prep everything the evening before, place in a jar and keep overnight in your refrigerator and enjoy in the morning!
Smoothie Bowls Oh smoothie bowls, my absolute favourite meal ever! If you have yet to try a smoothie bowl, I seriously recommend making your own asap! I love making these for breakfast, lunch or sometimes even dessert. They're super healthy and delicious and are a great way to incorporate more fruit into your diet. The great thing about smoothie bowls is that you can buy frozen fruit in batches and store them in your freezer without worrying that they will go out of date quickly like most fresh fruit. I always look forward to using a variety of superfood powders in my smoothie and topping them with extra fruit, chocolate, seeds, you name it.
Pancakes - I know this makes me sound a bit dumb, but I seriously have yet to master the art of making the perfect pancake without it resulting in a sloppy mess that definitely won't look good on the gram. I love pancakes so much (when I'm not the one attempting to make them hahaha), but I'm not talking sugar and oil packed pancakes, I'm talking healthy superfood, banana pancakes that are actually good for you. Again, you can top these with whatever fruits and seeds you like, so it's always exciting to get creative - ooh and a drizzle (or a ton because yum) of chocolate sauce never hurt anyone.
Yogurt ParfaitI don't make these half as much as I would like to as I often forget about them, but coconut yogurt parfaits are so yummy! Simply make a couple of layers of your favourite yogurt and granola and top with some fruit. If you enjoy sweet breakfasts then this would be perfect for you. I personally think strawberries or passionfruit make the perfect topping if you want something sweet and refreshing!
I hope this post gave you a bit of inspiration to create something more exciting than a bowl of cornflakes in the mornings! I'd love to hear what your favourite breakfast ideas are and if you're going to try any of these suggestions, let me know which one by leaving a comment!
What's your favourite breakfast?

Love Always,
Shannon x

  1. I love your recipe posts! They give me so inspiration, and I adore having granola and berries for breakfast. Seeing as the weather has been warmer than usual in the UK, my go to breakfast has been fruit and Alpro vanilla yoghurt, it's delicious! Looking forward to reading the posts that are to come x
