My Top 5 Favourite Classic Movies

I've always had a thing for classic movies, there's something about them that brings me a sense of joy and are always my go to whenever I can't think of something new to watch. They also go pretty well with a cup of vanilla flavoured coffee and brownies on a rainy day. Okay, wow I need this right now. Anyway, today I wanted to share five of my absolute favourite classic movies ranging from different eras, as I love so many. If you're a classic movie fan, then you're bound to have seen every movie on this list, but if not then you definitely should check them out as they're all too good to miss out on.

Pretty Woman -
Just like every Julia Roberts movie, this one blew me away and is always a film that I find myself watching as it is my go to classic. I remember watching this years ago and completely falling in love with it as it really is such an iconic movie. The movie stars Edward (Richard Gere), who portrays a wealthy business man and Vivian (Julia Roberts), who relys on prostitution to make money. Edwards hires Vivian to stay with him for the weekend, and after spending time together getting closer, there are many obstacles that come between their two very different worlds.

10 Things I Hate About You -
This is without fail, one of my favourite movies of all time and I even mentioned it in one of my previous blog posts featuring a bunch of other favourite movies of mine (feel free to read it here). It's such a great typical 90's teen movie, but somehow still manages to pull on my heartstrings to this day, even after watching it about a million times throughout my childhood up until now.

Roman Holiday -
Again, I mentioned this in my "Top 10 favourite movies of all time" post like the movie above, but I couldn't bare to keep this old fashioned favourite off of this list. Audrey Hepburn was such a beautiful actress and I love so many of her movies, but Roman Holiday really is amazing. I know so many people rave about Breakfast At Tiffany's and as much as I love that movie, there's something about this one that always keeps me wanting to watch it more.

My Girl -
This used to be one of my favourite movies growing up and to be honest, I have no idea where I got such an interest in it from. However, I feel like it will aways be a movie that I go back to when I want something that reminds me of my childhood. It's such a sweet movie with a lot of scenes that are pretty deep and do have a lot of meaning. So, if you're ready to have a bit of a giggle along with a few tears here and there, then this film may be the perfect choice for you.

Dirty Dancing -
I swear everyone and their mother has seen this movie. Like I don't think I know a single person that hasn't watched this during some point in their life. However, if you are one of the 0.99% of people that are crazy enough to have not have had the chance to watch it, I highly suggest you sitting down and embracing the best couple of hours you could spend on watching anything. In fact, I'm probably going to end up watching this as soon as I'm done with this post. It's such a brilliant storyline and is by far the best 80's movie I have ever seen.

What is your favourite classic movie?

Love Always,
Shannon x

  3. Fun idea for a blog post! I would love to get into more classic films especially ones with Audrey Hepburn. I loaned an Audrey Hepburn coffee table book from the library recently as I loved flicking through the fashion images. 10 Things I Hate About You is a top favourite of mine too! :-) xx
