The Autumn Tag

10.20.2018

I forgot how nice it feels to sit down near the fireplace feeling all cosy. I swear today is the coldest I have felt ever sine autumn has arrived and although I'm not mad about it now, I know I'm going to get pretty sick of the cold weather in no time. I'm very much a summer loving girl, honestly the thought of being bundled up in coats and scarves makes me cringe as I absolutely hate it. But right now I will admit, I'm feeling very cosy with my hot chocolate, writing this very post for you and sitting by the fire for the first time in a very long time, I'm very content with right now. I even have my favourite candle burning and I am loving it.

Since I'm feeling all the cosy vibes, I thought it was only right to write something pretty autumnal and since I've being seeing the autumn tag everywhere lately, I thought I'd give it a go myself. I haven't written a tag post in way over a year, but I always enjoy writing them as I feel like you get to know me that little bit more, so here we go!

What signifies the start of autumn for you?
This one is super easy. It's got to be stepping outside on a random morning and suddenly the air just feels different. More crisp and chill, and although this may sound cheesy, but it's always in those moments that I really appreciate the change of seasons, especially autumn as it means that all the festivities are just around the corner and gives you something to look forward to.

What is your favourite autumn scent?
If we're talking candles then my all time favourite is Christmas Eve by Yankee Candle. I know I know, that's a Christmas scent, but since I can never wait, I always find myself lighting this candle early as I can't resist how incredible the scent is. I'm actually burning it right now and it's making me feel so festive, but I'm certainly not complaining. I did recently discover Autumn by Yankee Candle and although I didn't buy it (really regretting it now), I absolutely loved it.

What is your favourite autumn colour?
I've really grown to love burnt orange. I never disliked the colour, but it has certainly grown on me over the years. I'm also a sucker for burgundy / plum shades.

Are you a fan of the PSL (pumpkin spice latte)?
Yes! However, I did recently try the iced version and I can't say I was too much of fan. It sort of doesn't feel right with it being such an autumnal drink that you would usually drink hot. I'm definitely going to try making my own PSL at home though rather than keep taking trips to Starbucks (oops).

What is your favourite Autumn drink?
I'm going to sound so basic when I say that literally all I drink is water. I mean yeah I drink different types of coffees if I go to a coffee shop or sometimes in the mornings with breakfast but day to day I don't drink anything other than water and the odd coffee here and there. Oh but now I think about it, I absolutely love vanilla or hazelnut flavoured coffee this time of year.

What's your favourite coffee shop and their drink of choice?
I absolutely love Starbucks macchiatos, hot or served over ice, they're just so good. I don't really go to many other coffee shops as Starbucks is somewhere that I've been going to for as long as I can remember, so it's always my first choice.

Apple pie or pumpkin pie?
I'm only going to say apple pie because I've never tried pumpkin pie, although I would love to! I'd love to try making my own pumpkin pie this year actually, so maybe we'll see how that goes!

What TV show, new or old are you looking forward to in the next few months?
I love The Vampire Diaries so much that I literally watch it all year round, but there's something that makes it seem so much more cosy and enjoyable during colder days where I can be tucked up in my duvet. I've rewatched this series more than I can count I love it that much, so if you haven't seen it already then I highly recommend it. I also love me so Gilmore Girls this time of year because really, who doesn't?

What's your favourite autumn fashion trend?
My favourite has to be pinafore dresses, turtle necks and chunky heeled boots! I shared a bunch of my favourite autumn clothes in a recent post where it features some of my favourite pinafores and booties. I also love skirts this time of year with chunky knit jumpers tucked in with knee high boots or little booties.

What is your favourite comfort food to enjoy in the colder months?
I love baking this time of year and my family always love it when I make my favourite vegan brownie recipe. They're definitely a weakness of mine, but I try not to make them too much because they're not good for you in the slightest.. still yummy though, so who cares when you're having a bad day and need a pick me up?

What is your favourite autumn activity?
Last year I loved visiting the local pumpkin patch, but I didn't get to spend as much time there as I would have liked because it was just so busy. So this year I am making it my mission to visit again and have a great time as I did enjoy it a lot. It's also such a great places to snap some pictures for Insta, so there's always that excuse..

Are you a fan of horror movies?
Honestly, this past year I have gone off them completely. My boyfriend and I used to watch them all the time together, but for some reason we're just not interested in them anymore. I'll choose a comedy over a horror movie any day.

Do you ever do anything fun for halloween?
Having such a big family always means that halloween and Christmas are always exciting and since my little brother gets so excited over these events, it's always nice to get creative and do something special for him as a family. Last year we had a big family party on halloween and it was so fun to be around all my loved ones, playing silly games and having a great evening. This year I think we'll most likely be having a halloween movie evening, which can be equally as fun if effort is put into it to make it look spooky and still end up playing a few games. I'm not really one to go to horror nights at theme parks or anything like that, so I'd much rather spend time with people I love doing something cute.

What was your favourite part about halloween as a child?
This has definitely got to be my sisters and I persuading our mum to get the halloween / fancy dress box out of the attic so we could raid through it and choose our halloween costumes and end up having an afternoon playing dress up with all the different things that we could find. I also loved going trick or treating with my sisters and friends, aw the days.

Are you a bigger fan of bonfire night or halloween?
Definitely halloween. I don't really see bonfire night as a big deal and to be honest I almost forget about it every year. Maybe I'll find it fun in years to come, but for now I'm really not fussed.

Where is your dream destination to visit in the autumn?
I would absolutely love to visit Canada some day. There's just something that seems so beautiful about that country and I always find myself drawn to it. I would also love to visit New York during my birthday as it's in November. I'd be willing to dress up in coats and scarves there, as long as I got to visit all of the amazing sights.

Do you always forget about the clocks going back?
YES. I mean who doesn't though?

When do you usually start preparing for Christmas?
As soon as it's socially acceptable. I always want the Christmas decorations up as soon as possible and I believe as soon as they're done, then it's time to fully embrace Christmas and all the preparation that comes with it. I'm sure I'll be blasting my Christmas jazz playlist in no time..

I feel so great after writing this post, I had so much fun. Now I'm going to watch some of The Vampire Diaries and wait for my boyfriend to get home and snuggle. I hope you're having a lovely weekend so far and I also tag whoever is reading this to do this tag yourself! I'd love to see your answers.

Have you done the Autumn tag this year?

Love Always,
Shannon x
