Weekend Morning Routine

Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful week so far. I'm feeling really inspired to get some blog posts written today so I have some more content to post throughout the week and I thought I'd kick it off with a weekend morning routine.

Breakfast -

As someone who likes to wake up at around 8am, I usually lay in my bed for about ten minutes just checking up on all of my social media and sort of creating a mini check list in my head of the things I want to achieve by the end of the day. I then go downstairs and start making some breakfast, which more often than not is porridge.

Porridge doesn't have to be boring, in fact I'm always coming up with new topping ideas and ways to make it a bit more interesting. I'd love to write a post on ways I make porridge more exciting, so if this is something that you'd be interested in, please let me know in the comments!

My go to porridge lately is half a cup of oats with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk. If I want something a little sweeter than I'll add 1 tsp of coconut sugar and cook for around five minutes on the stove. My favourite toppings right now are thinly sliced pear and dark chocolate chips, it's seriously the best combination, you've got to try it!

If I have any lemons lying around then I'll always opt for some lemon water in the mornings as this always helps to wake up my body and instantly feel refreshed.

Workout -

I absolutely love working out at home. I'd love to build up the confidence and go to the gym sometimes, but for now, working out at home is still working just fine for me.

I've been following Blogilates on Youtube for years now and I still love her workout videos as much as I did when I first started following them. Cassey makes daily playlists of around 5 workouts to complete each day and they seriously do work. Some are a lot trickier than others, but there is always an alternative if you're a beginner. I've spoken about how much I love her videos before, but as someone who still follows the workouts daily, I couldn't recommend her enough!

Another Youtube favourite of mine is Emi Wong. Her workouts are perfect for building up a sweat, without feeling like you're doing any moves that are too intense. Emi is a recent discovery of mine, but I have been following her videos for around a month now and I honestly love them!

Whitney Simmons creates some pretty high intensity workouts, but they're seriously brilliant! She also uploads workout videos on her instagram, so I'd highly recommend checking those out.

Shower -

Obviously after a workout I'm feeling sweaty and gross, so I instantly hop in the shower. Lately, I've been using my favourite shampoo and conditioner from Umberto Giannini's "grow longer" collection. I wrote a full review on the range here. This shampoo and conditioner work best together and leave my hair feeling so soft.

My favourite body wash scent is anything shea butter, coconut or vanilla, so The Body Shop is my go to store. I'm not usually not too fussy with shower products, but these body washes are gorgeous and the scent is long lasting, so if you're looking for something new to try then these are a must!

I also love using face scrubs or coffee scrubs in the shower as they make my skin feel soft and hydrated to the max, my favourite being the Exfoliating Scrub from Quick Fix Facials. This is a great scrub for targeting blackheads and making your skin feel fresh. Not to mention how great it feels applying makeup once this scrub has been washed off, it makes your skin feel like silk.

Getting Ready -

Whether or not I've got plans for the day ahead, I'll still apply makeup on the weekends so I feel like I'm a bit more put together. I'm planning on writing a more in depth post soon on my everyday makeup products, so I won't go into too much detail about them now. However, I will always use my trusty Tarte "Tartlette In Bloom" palette for eyeshadow as this is my absolute holy grail product. I've been using the palette for years now and I always repurchase it whenever I'm getting low on my favourite shades.

My hair care routine has definitely changed over the past few months, so I can't wait to share more of my favourite products for healthy hair soon! I don't like adding too much product to my hair, and try to rarely style it with heated tools as my hair can damage quite easily, so I'll usually just spritz some heat protectant all over, split end cream to the ends of my hair and a volume boost spray all over. I'll then simply blow dry it and then I'm done for the day.

Getting Things Done -

Funnily enough, I find Saturdays are usually when I'm most productive as opposed to throughout the week. I tend to use Saturday mornings as my time to take photos for my blog, so I can spend time editing the photos in the afternoons. No day is ever the same, as sometimes the photos just don't come out the way I want them too, so I end up spending hours trying different things to make them better.

What would a productive morning be without a cup of coffee? for some it wouldn't even exist, but don't worry I've got you covered. Littles were kind enough to send me one of their mix and match coffee boxes full of six fun flavours to help me with my mornings. As someone who adores coffee, I was so happy to work with them and share my thoughts with you.

I've tried their vanilla and chocolate flavours in the past and have always repurchased them, so I was excited to give some of their others a try. I chose chocolate orange, chocolate caramel, French vanilla, island coconut, maple walnut and rich hazelnut, all of which sound perfect.

I haven't go a bad thing to say about any of these flavours as they're all so soft and taste exactly as their name suggests. I think French vanilla will always be my favourite, but rich hazelnut is a close second. If you're looking for a new coffee to try out, or even to help stop you from ordering coffee from Starbucks so often, then Littles are seriously the perfect brand. Not to mention there's only 4 kcals per cup, unlike that caramel coffee frappuchino that might tempt you every time you see a Starbucks..

While I'm sipping on my morning coffee, you'll probably find me writing down a bunch of blog ideas for the following week and working on some admin stuff. I love using Saturdays as my productive days and Sundays as my time to chill out a bit more and spend time with my family and our new addition, our beautiful little puppy, Blue!

How do you spend your weekends?

Love Always,
Shannon x
